Hi I'm Mike! I'm a FLIP (Filipino-American) and am originally from the Washington, DC area. I'm a self confessed retired wannabe club kid / music geek who has an unhealthy obsession with the 80's. I'm still really into house music (new and old). I even run an active music/dj mix podcast too! The South Bay area of LA is now my home.
*Oh yeah, I'm training to run a marathon! See the 'DONATIONS' link above for more information.

Dimitri From Stoke On Trent “I Wanna Be Your Lobster” by Hands Of Time
Midnight Star - Freak-a-Zoid (1987)
Yes, there’s a whole lotta LOOK in this. ;-)
Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam - Head to Toe (1987)
I was out and about in downtown LA today with friends. All of the sudden THIS pops up on the radio. Needless to say, we were jammin!
Jermaine Stewart - We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off
I was always fascinated by his hair for some reason. Meanwhile — what is the name of that ‘scissoring of the hands in the air’ dance move the backup singers are doing??? Hmmm. The things I think about sometimes.
Madonna - Everybody (‘Dancing on Air’ 1982)
Someone’s been digging DEEP into the archives! It looks like this (really good quality clip) just surfaced on YouTube a few weeks ago…
Heaven 17 - Temptation (Later Live … with Jools Holland)
They still have it going on. A big hands up to that white lady back-up singer too! WERQ! It looks like Heaven 17 are going to go on tour in the UK soon in celebration (and my horror, LOL) of the 30th anniversary of their album PENTHOUSE AND PAVEMENT. Apparently songs from it will be performed live with a band for the first time ever! For more information, check out the clips from So Hip It Hurts.
Temptation is probably favorite song from them. And That’s No Lie is probably my 2nd most favorite. They had a great element of soulfulness to their music. <3
Eighth Wonder - Cross My Heart (Little Louie Vega Club Mix)
This track actually came up on my ‘Recommended for you…’ queue on YouTube. What are they trying to say?!? LOLs.
I’m so living for Eighth Wonder doing Stock/Aitken/Waterman doing Freestyle right now. WERQ!
Karma Chameleon b/w That’s The Way (I’m Only Trying To Help You)
Culture Club, Epic Records/USA (1983)
I remember buying this particular 12” back in high school. Because it was an import, I think I had to scrounge up $9.99 in allowance money to buy it. In some ways I thought I got gypped because the song wasn’t remixed or extended. I ended up really treasuring it because of the ‘exclusive’ artwork that wasn’t on the US version of the single and the ultra thinness of the vinyl. On one fateful day the disc slipped out of my hands and onto the floor. The record fell literally on it’s side and and entire piece of the vinyl cracked and shattered into bits. I was devastated and never really the same person ever again … well, not really. I finally got over it a few years later when I realized that import records really weren’t that exclusive to find. Oh well, it was a cool story, right?!? LOLOL.
Crowded House - Don’t Dream It’s Over (1986)
Why do great pop songs have to be so sad?!? Okay, no more schmaltzy stuff. Good night! :-D
Aztec Camera - All I Need is Everything (1984)
The b-side to this single was a really mellowed version of “Jump” by Van Halen. I just thought that it was the most brilliant thing at the time. Little did I know that the a-side would actually rock my socks off as well a few years later when I went to college. It’s one of my all time favorite pop songs ever.
