Hi I'm Mike! I'm a FLIP (Filipino-American) and am originally from the Washington, DC area. I'm a self confessed retired wannabe club kid / music geek who has an unhealthy obsession with the 80's. I'm still really into house music (new and old). I even run an active music/dj mix podcast too! The South Bay area of LA is now my home.

*Oh yeah, I'm training to run a marathon! See the 'DONATIONS' link above for more information.

I truthfully haven’t heard half of these songs, but I totally agree with the number 1!

This guy produced that amazing Madonna megamix video that made it’s way around Facebook the other day.  There are more fun megamixes and remixes on his SoundCloud page.

Robyn - Hang With Me (Consola vs Avicii’s Club Mix) by MattConsola

Pretty………

PSB - Being Boring cover

(via Enda Guinan)

The Guardian UK posted this on their music blog today.  Although I can totally relate to the points stated, there are just way too many songs out there for me to personally say what THE perfect pop song is.  Can you believe that this song is almost 20 years old? The iconic music video directed by Bruce Weber definitely holds the test of time IMHO.  Here’s a link.

Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence [on top of the WTC, NYC)

I’ve NEVER ever seen this performance before!  I’m guessing it was some sort of television performance.  Can you make out the language the announcer is speaking at the end???  Also notice how creepy the last shot is with the helicopter flying over and then away from the observation deck.

Sometimes I wonder what it was like to be living back in the 80’s and all the sudden a new depeche mode, duran duran, tears for fears, etc. single comes out and what it was like to just be exposed to that piece of music for the first time ever..What it felt like when it was played on the radio for the first time and you had to run to the store to get the album…

Kinda like what happens when I hear a new Kesha single for the first time ever on the radio. except exactly OPPOSITE.

Depeche Mode= Substance

Kesha= No Substance

I also dig this vid because they filmed it on top of the world trade center..

Seems like the era of good music and good bands like depeche mode went down just like those towers.

Belinda Carlisle feat Freda Payne - Band of Gold (Single Mix)

I found this little ditty on one of my favorite ‘download’ sights today and it brought back some great memories.  Originally released in 1986, this is a cover of a song originally released by Freda Payne herself in 1970.  I’m such a sucker for a great pop hook.  The original songwriting and production team of Holland-Dozier-Holland were great at that.  The 12” single also featured an extended and dub remix by John Luongo.  The great bonus with this particular 12” single when I bought it back in the day was that it was pressed on clear gold vinyl.  Yes, the simple joys of life … 24 years ago.

(from So Hip It Hurts)

Faithless + Blancmange = Whoa!!!  Faithless are back with a great cover of 1982’s “Feel Me” by Blancmange.  Also check out the trippy video for the single “Tweak Your Nipple” in the link above.

No, I don’t have BIEBER FEVER.  I love me some Charice though!
