Hi I'm Mike! I'm a FLIP (Filipino-American) and am originally from the Washington, DC area. I'm a self confessed retired wannabe club kid / music geek who has an unhealthy obsession with the 80's. I'm still really into house music (new and old). I even run an active music/dj mix podcast too! The South Bay area of LA is now my home.
*Oh yeah, I'm training to run a marathon! See the 'DONATIONS' link above for more information.

PAULO + ABEL @ Alegria NYC on Halloween
WHAT?!? Now THAT’S an event to go to!

(via OMG Blog)
I love NYC…post 1991, that is. Prior to that, I couldn’t really tell you because my only visits there were with family roadtrips via our station wagon. My dad loved to drive and we would do stuff like this very often during the 70’s and early 80’s. There’s an awesome collection of photos here of what it was like riding the New York City subway system prior to the Disneyfication of Times Square.
This past week…
i think new york is my favorite city. i even like it in the subway during summertime! the grit and the grime just grow on you i guess. LOL.

She’s going down. ‘Rilly down. F’rilz, doh!
This is something that I kind of miss from city life ~~ all the crazies on the subway! I love how most of the people were simply ignoring ‘her’. The DC metro back home wasn’t that bad, but you got your extra special folks once in a while. LA has a subway/light rail system, but since everyone drives, I really couldn’t tell you. I’m sure there is some FUN to be found though. LOL.
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence [on top of the WTC, NYC)
I’ve NEVER ever seen this performance before! I’m guessing it was some sort of television performance. Can you make out the language the announcer is speaking at the end??? Also notice how creepy the last shot is with the helicopter flying over and then away from the observation deck.
Sometimes I wonder what it was like to be living back in the 80’s and all the sudden a new depeche mode, duran duran, tears for fears, etc. single comes out and what it was like to just be exposed to that piece of music for the first time ever..What it felt like when it was played on the radio for the first time and you had to run to the store to get the album…
Kinda like what happens when I hear a new Kesha single for the first time ever on the radio. except exactly OPPOSITE.
Depeche Mode= Substance
Kesha= No Substance
I also dig this vid because they filmed it on top of the world trade center..Seems like the era of good music and good bands like depeche mode went down just like those towers.
